Default Anyone need some Mobil 1 75W-90 SHC???

A guy I know has a source for M1 75W-90 SHC gear oil that is damn near impossible to find. Evidentally this is the oil required by Porsche for our transmissions. Usually it is only avbailable in 55 gal. drums at major distributors. This guy is going to have a local supplier sell some SHC in one gallon containers. Pricing and shipping info to come; just wanted to see if there was any interest over here.

Do you really think it would be that much better than:

Also, since there is no friction modifier (for the limited slip) if you do have an LS setup you would need to get some from your local Chevy dealer (or other local source)

I don't know, Bob.
When Chris sent me the instructions for the gearbox install, he specifically listed "SHC." It also said LS was not Porsche approved.

The gearbox he built for me has a four disc RSR limited slip. Are you saying I need a friction modifier (like the M1 LS) because of the LSD? It is all very confusing to me as I am not an oil expert.

Thanks for the info,

My understanding was that you did not need a friction modifier with the synthetic Mobil One. In fact, the site VB cited says it is for limited slip units.

However, the SHC product page makes no mention of limited slips; mostly heavy duty and military trucks.

I got mine from the local Kragen store, and assume it was the LS version. The containers are long gone. Maybe I got the wrong fluid?

Use what Chris recommended. You can also get it from Your regional Mobil distributor in a 16gal keg, not just a 55g. Hope that helps. Enjoy and let us know how You like it. Glad to hear You went that route, think You will find it very rewarding.
