Rust on rotors, hamper pad performance?

I recently washed and preped the car for a special event, covered it and put it away for a couple days prior to the event, without driving it to dry off the rotors etc. (black car, if you have one you understand). When I took it out a couple days later, the rotors were covered pretty heavily with rust. I noticed some minor uneveness in the brake feel, even after driving a round trip of about 90 miles. There was minor rust dusting on the wheels. Could the rust have damaged my pads (Mintx C-tech). Should I remove and sandblast them lightly? Just brake really hard a bit? Not worry about it? I have a DE coming up, this coming weekend, and would like to have optimum braking.

Not to worry! Surface rust will will form if any moisture is present when the car sits (mmm, iron). It will normally be gone at the first stop light. Whatever you noticed was not due to rust.

Due to the high iron content in rotors, they will rust easily and quickly. No worries about the rust dust. Just wipe down the insides of your wheels.

I just read an excellent article on brakes...in this month's Grassroots Motorsports. Once you read this article, you'll be dangerous. There is also the www.StopTech.com web site, more incredible information.
If I have some time later in the week, I'll summarize a few salient points.
As to your question...it has been answered above.
