Default Good Deals on Driving Gloves?

Hey guys,

Anyone know of any good deals on a decent pair of driving gloves for DE. I've never driven with a pair, but everyone says that it makes a big difference on the track. I figure it's because it offers more grip, absorbs sweat, fire protection (Nomex), and is somewhat padded?

Since it's year-end and vendors usually want to get rid of their stock, I can maybe snag a decent pair for cheap. I know the nicer gloves go for $80+, are the lesser gloves worth considering? Any sources?

Thanks!

Don't know about gloves, but Saferacer.com had some fantastic deals on older version OMP racing shoes.

Just to play devil's advocate, are you SURE you want driving gloves? When I started DE's, I bought a pair just becuase people said to. After my first season they got shelved. Why? I can feel the tires and what the car is doing much better without them, and I find this crucial. I like to keep a very light touch on the wheel and to feel everything, and it just works much better for me without gloves. And I've never found my hands so covered with sweat that I couldn't hold on even as lightly as I hold the wheel.

An example of why and how I hold the wheel lightly:

I just purchased my first set of gloves. As stated earlier, Saferacer.com is a good site and they are on sale for less then $40 right now.

Gloves work much better when you have a suede wheel. I found that with a leather wheel they were a bit slippery.

Yeah....not sure how gloves would feel when driving, but I guess I need to see for myself what all the hype is about. That's why I don't want to spend an arm and a leg for a pair.

Are you referring to these? How do you like them so far?

I also like to have them pretty snug, too, so I can "feel" the wheel & car as much as possible.

Default Vintage racing gloves...

Talking about gloves...I bought a pair of vintage ones on eBay (from the 70s)...the idea was to wear them while driving my 356...when I got them, they were too small...perfect for women...they are still unused here...black and blue...made in Great Britain...soft leather...any wives looking for a super cool pair of driving gloves? For free for Rennlist members...even shipping on my dime...I hate to see them unused...

I just re-read your post and realized that you are giving your gloves away! That is a very generous offer. Another true example of Rennlist generosity. Way to go.
