Brook,

I'm very sorry to hear this... a few months back some theives tried to steal JRG 993TT and it was also in Brentwood. In his case they were unsuccessful. I wish you the best dealing with the insurance if you have any questions do not hesitate to PM me. I have learned alot in dealing with insurance since my off road excursion in April. Good Luck.

Man I feel with you, hope the bastard(s) get caught. FWIW, a friend's 993RS was taken from a garage once. He had 2 immobilizers on the car. No broken glass either, no alarm went off according to witnesses. Police retrieved it two years later, or rather parts of it, in boxes at a professional car stealer gang. Turned out they had drilled a hole through the bonnet , disconnected some trunk wiring related to the alarms and woosh car gone off in a matter of a minute.

Sorry to hear of your misfortune. I had (wrongly) assumed that given the age of our cars, people would only steal it for joyrides but I guess there's enough people out there willing to buy stolen goods - either as a complete car or as in parts.

I guess the least that the rennlist community can do is to trawl eBay, forsale ads, swap meets, etc. for the car or parts of it, so pics and any unique marks such as that slight scratch, etc. would be helpful.

Oh man that just plain sucks I had something similar happen when I was living in San Diego. In my case it was a condo with its own garage. They forced the garage door open and took everything... all of this on a Saturday afternoon!

Good luck,

I feel for you. I am hoping some kids just took it for a joyride and she gets recovered quickly.
At least we can hope.

So sorry...I had my 89 targa stolen from the westside 2 years ago. The M.O. for the thief is to use a standard tow truck. They just back up and lift the car (the thiefs know that the cars do not come with motion sensors) The pisser in my case was that I saw the suspect 3 weeks before while I was under the car doing an oil change. I wish you well and will PM you.

So sorry to hear about your car. Do any of you guys use The Club or any other similar device? I know nothing is foolproof but the harder you make it...

This is terrible news Brooke !!
I have my fingers crossed that this turns out alright for you.
My car ( an almost identical twin ) resides in a much less desirable area than Brentwood.....
Probably a planned effort, as a joyride in a DriveBlock car is unlikely.

Sorry to hear this... truly sucks...

Someone mentioned LoJack... I know this works only in most metropoltan areas where the police have the system installed in the patrol cars.

Has anyone seen this system? Uses cell & GPS and you can "locate" where your car is virtually anywhere in the US via the web!

No affill etc...

Brook,

Sorry for the unfortunate incidence. Hope the insurance treats you right.

This is the reason I bought a stated value policy ($85k) with Firemen's Fund. If someone stole my RUF, it'll be my words against the insurance's as to it's worth, as no one has the car there to evaluate anymore. I know All State will look at it as a run-of-the-mill 993. 1995 with 108k miles to boot.

With the eye-catching look of the RUF, I know the chance of theft cannot be ignored, so I just bit the bullet and did the stated value policy. Now I sleep well at night.

Good luck with your situation.

CP
