My gauge does the same thing, so I've simply monitored the dipstick. In our cars, the oil serves two purposes - to lubricate and to cool. But with a system of this capacity, I refuse to lose sleep if the stick shows I'm down by a few teaspoons...

Andreas is very right !!!!
we concern and worry a lot if we have an oil level 2 or 3cc more or less than optimal level, and this is nuts taking in mind you have a so large anmount of oil in the system. You have to worry when oil is really getting out of reasonable levels.
