Default Porsche CD Parts Catalog

I just got a copy....from Porsche, of their "Originalteile - Katalog" or Genuine Parts Catalog, dated April 2005, which is the current release. Since there's been some misconceptions on what is included, I thought I'd post what I've found.

First, it covers from 1950 through 2005, and covers all Porsche production models, from the 356 up to and including the Cayenne, Carerra GT, 997, etc. It includes both the USA/Canada and Rest of World (ROW) catalogs. The ROW catalog is handy when you want to order parts that appeared on Porsches outside the US. Not all dealers will order European-only parts, however, there are dealers around the US that will order them. It also contains the 'M' option codes for each model, along with the serial number ranges for chassis, engines, and transmissions of each model.

The catalog structure uses .pdf files, and does not have a dependancy on screen size. Because it uses .pdf files, the parts catalog can run on any system that can read .pdf files (I tried it on WinXP and mac systems) . For me, this was important, as I wanted to be able to use the parts catalog on my mac. It takes about 511mb if you want to copy it off the CD and onto your hard drive.

The good news, is that you can buy it for $10-$15 from Porsche. No special codes or handshakes If you ask for it and get a blank look from a clueless parts counter person, the part number is 00004340005.

Note, this parts catalog does not have all the capabilities of the dealer parts catalog. However, I'm not sure I care. It's cheap, it has the same diagrams and information, and it provides the capability to look up parts for any year, any model Porsche. And it's inexpensive enough, that picking up an updated copy a year from now won't break the bank. And perhaps most importantly, you can also use it on a mac

I agree! In Europe the CD is about 5 Euro and it is packed with a lot of information. The pdfs are structured, so it is easy to find anything even in the absence of a search engine. Even the Tecquipment catalogues are included.

The corresponding prices for spare parts are available on www.porsche.de, maybe there is also a source for US prices.

Best regards,

Felix

I am very pleased our North Am porker friends are getting hosed on the parts CD. I paid Euros 6 for mine.

FWIW, I get many of my parts from Sunset and even after shipping.. it is cheaper. Gert also gets some Euros.
