Trade up for the Turbo in the same color. Tell her it was "the only way to come out ahead."

Sell what??????? Are you kidding me. Why would you do that? If your like me (who has sold two 993s already) you will regret it forever. They will never make another like it. So, if you have one that you like, keep it forever.

Now if your talking wives and their mileage, then I say trade in the 40 year old for two 20 year olds. That makes good sense.

Pttthhh...marriage advice from someone who sold two beloved 993s? Ha! Yeah, he's working with a full deck!

Keep your car. You can't replace the quintessential Porsche.

wcwinc,

If you really enjoy the car then I would just get the rebuild done and some other things upgraded while your mechanic is in there (i.e. while the engine is dropped). You may end up spending some decent money in the short term, but you will have a perfectly running Porsche that will run for a very long time, and you will be without a car payment, too.

Pttthhh,

With all due respect to Adrienne and comments on my matrimonial advice, consider the source

As many as it accumulates until I'm too old to drive.

I'm thinking by that time car will have at least 500 000 miles and one or two re-builds.

And I'm not gonna sell it then either, instead, I will hand the keys to my son. Or maybe to my grandson, we'll see.

I will buy another Porsches but this one is part of the family so it stays in the family.

If I was you, I wouldn't sell it either. I mean, you're the original owner and I'm sure you have shared a lot of smiles.

Take care of the CEL (it's not that big of the deal) and keep it.

When you want newer Porsche, go ahead and buy it but don't sell this one, if you do, you'll regret it.

Barring any unforseen calamities, never sell. Allow it to age alongside me, then pass it down to the kids / grandkids / greatgrandkids...

I would never trade a 40 years old for two 20s! Maybe simultaneosly but then I'd have to compare to 2 X 40s and I'd not trade as well!

As far as your P-car...if you want to trade your 993 (Bad move!!!!)...do it for an older aircooled one...
