Checking out a 993 in FL
Has anyone seen this:
95 993 "turbo"
Is this worth checking out? Seems like a regular 993 price.
Is there anything I should be looking for on this...I am currently in a 951 and know what to look for on those models but not so much on a 993, much less a turbo one....
Any help would be great. Anyone know of a PPI place in the Lakeland, Florida area?

You know this is a "conversion"? So the added value of the conversion is based on the quality of the work done by Gulf Performance. You would want to do a bunch of research on this car to see what has been done to the engine to beef it up for twin turbos. Do you have enough expertise (or do you know a shop) to do the work on a non-standard car should the need arise? This can be a great value or a total dog. Keep us posted with what you find out.

It also seems to have Brembo GT brake kit on the front. I now live about 40 miles away from this place (who would have thought that I would live near ANYTHING anymore?).

Does not looked cared for thats for sure... lots of little things wrong (switches missing, bumper trim missing, tow hook cap missing, front spoiler crooked, etc). The front trunk is very dirty and drivers seat appears worn or discolored. If its not been cared for cosmetically, I wonder about the mechanical side of things particularily since its custom work.
Since miledge is also suspect, I would think it have to be much cheaper for me to take a chance... Just my 2 cents...

The seat does look worn or dirty and I noticed the tow hook cover missing. The mats also look dirty. The center caps all have flaking paint. All that stuff is about $500. I'll try to get a copy of the reciepts to see if any internal components were replaced when the turbos were added.
It reads $42,000 in upgrades...so what does $42K get....a new bumper cover, a whale tail, intercoolers, turbos, maybe brakes.....wheels?

It's had a good bit of work done to it....from Gulf Performance...twin plug, carillo rods, lightened flywheel, limited slip diff., supercup exhaust, dyno tune engine, front big brake kit, twin turbo rear brakes, "sport" cams, then after that it had the motor rebuilt, then plating from the block was found in the oil and it was rebuilt again after cleaning and flushing all the oil system. It has other things listed too like shock brace which is apparently removed. It has had a wing put on it twice...maybe they bought one and it was too big so they bought the turbo one on it now. The mileage does vary on the reciepts as well....they are from 1995-2001.
So, any input from this info?

Risk and return. It is about $20K less than a real turbo. Could it be a reasonable car? Maybe. It could also be a car that you could spend the $20K on in the first few months. I would have someone that really knows these cars take a look at it if you are at all serious. I might be able to look at it as I have some time on my hands at the moment.

OK...I'll let you know....it could be scary...or a good deal. I always say don't buy someone else's hot rod. If they spent that much to begin with they must be some sort of enthusiast. It's the 2nd owner that I'd have to worry about.
My 951 has had atleast 3 owners, but they left it all stock so it made me worry less, and not look too deep. It's not perfect but it isn't ragged either. I've owned, driven, autocrossed, and worked on 924, 944, and 951 models. This would be a step in a new direction.

I am willing to work on something if it's broken. I just don't want to get something that needs alot right now. I just finished replacing ALL my 951 A/C parts and most of my P/S components...I am ready for something newer. If this is: NOT leaking, NOT smoking, has major maintenance up to date, has working A/C, and all the electrical items work I can clean up stuff and sort out minor things.
