In the amazingly competitive AS class, a stock '97 993 wins the 2005 National Championship!!! Paul's been a national champ on several occasions, too, as I believe he used to drive 'Vettes. Anyway, pretty impressive stuff for our 993s. Mind you, "stock" in SCCA Solo II is not completely showroom stock. The shocks can be swapped w/o penalty, but the US springs have to stay on, for example. R compound tires can be used, and some other smaller modifications are allowed to the car. In any event, I'm happy to see a 993 do so well in this class!

Paul and his 993

Rich, looks like are cars are similar, I've got the Scroth 4 point cam lock and it's ready for the sub. The previous owner used as a four point, I'm considering doing a DE coming up and need to get the sub strap. Was wondering where you bought your setup, are you using stock seats with sub strap?
Thanks, Rick

Kudos to him. This is a great accomplishment given the 993's 40-60 weight split! Good job!

Hey Rick!

I actually bought most of my stuff from a Rennlister and close neighbor to you - kary993 and/or Group9 Motorsports. I bought my Sparc Evos, DAS rollbar & MoMo 08 steering wheel from him. I bought my Schroth 5-pts from Steve Weiner here on Rennlist (Oregon).

Which DE are you going to be doing?

Rich

Yeah, those S2000s are a killer in autocrossing. I think they started out in B Stock, but because they were so good they were moved up to AS.

Hi Rich,

I know Cary, I bought one of the group buy jackets that he did a while back.

I'm going to do the D/E on November 13th @ the Q, there's also an AX on the Saturday before the D/E. I'll try the 4 points that came with the car in next months AX, it will be my first in the 993
I'm looking at some Recaro Speeds right now but might go to the Pole Position on drivers and Speed on the pass side.
