Has anyone widened a 993 seat cushion??

Has anyone widened a 993 seat cushion??
Am 6'3'' 230 lbs. and find the stock seat bottoms on my '96 993 are, essentially, too narrow. The seats are built up from a metal base that has vertical side structures which, regardless of the padding on top, hit my apparently wide butt about 1.5 inches in on each side. Has any of my wide bottomed brethren found a way to modify the stock seat to alleviate this problem? Or, is there an aftermarket NON RACING seat which is an option? Maybe Porsche has a wider seat base which could be rebuilt by an trim shop.
I've searched the archives, but to no avail.

No other big guys on the board have this issue? I have and I'm thinking about talking to an upholsterer about possible adjusting the metal sides and adding more foam to be bolsters. Perhaps memory foam. ALso looking at the recaro website, there looks like there are wider seats with (importantly) lower seat bottom side bolsters. Not in a huge rush, but I'll let you know how I get on.

6'5" and 295 here. The stock seats work fine for street driving (in the rear mounting holes, not factory holes), but I don't use them due to 30+ track days/year. I would think that the problem with "wider bolsters" would be that you have the longitudinals and the center consol to deal with....there isn't much more room, is there?

6'-5" & 230 here. I'm thinking it may be more of a shape issue than size. The bolsters may be able to be reformed with minimal widening. The 997s I test drove with stock seats seem to generally have the same shape as the 993, but a little flatter. I found those seat quite comfortable.

I am 6'5" and 235lbs and don't have a problem with the standard 993 seats. Although my wife has commented that I am starting to get the old-man no-*** syndrome.

If you're over 6'5", rear mounting is a must, I reckon. That said, I'm not talking about widening the seats per se, it's just that the bolsters *feel like* they sit at about 90 degrees to the bottom cushion. If there's any way to bend them out a bit or lower them, for me it's worth doing. I agree - the 997 seats are beautifully formed. Hmmm...how to get a pair of 997 seats...?

Am 5' 10" and "weight challenged" (afraid to get on a scale, but am at upper range of standard clothes racks). To me, stock 993 seats are fantastic - no problems whatever (maybe after 91K miles I've gotten them broken in?). Then again, car has the 8-way power seats.
Somehow I seem to remember a seat option for the "weight challenged", but maybe it's just my imagination. Am at work and all my 993 documentation is home, so can't check.

FLB03TT, I have the same problem. The top edge of the bolsters cuts me in the side of the hips. What if you raise the middle of the seat using some extra padding? The will take away some of the "holding" of the bucket type seat, but maybe make it comfortable enough to be worthwhile.

6'2" 250 and my *** fits very tight even though my wife says I have contracted "noassatall" disease.
In my last 911 I installed a Momo Acropolis and it fit my **** just right, but I like the power seats in my current car and decided I can live with tight *** syndrome.

I have exact same problem...and I broke my hip a few weeks back to boot. Had the problem before that though. Tried putting a firm foam pad down (stadium seating) but it wasn't the right fit. May try more aggressive foaming, or upholsterer, or aftermarket seats this season.
Going to try to drive it tomorrow (1st time this season). Wife's appropriately concerned (pissed)....

I'm 6-2, 225. The seat width isn't nearly as big of a problem as the legroom issue. I cannot seem to figure out how to move the seats back to the supposed rear position.
Is it possible that not all cars have the same rails and that some cannot be moved back?.
My search efforts have not yielded a definitive answer.
Suggestions?
Thanks,
Mike
