Thanks to all for your input. The RSRs seem to be close to what I'm after, as long as they are, at least, as loud as the factory Motorsound exhaust. A little louder than Motorsound would be great. How much louder are the LPMMs than the RSRs ?? BTW-- Car will not be tracked.

I have heard the supercups, and don't really care for the sound, haven't heard the Maxflows.
David, I have the Maxflows on my car. I gave you a ride last week!!!!

Yes, I totally forgot about that. I think I was so stunned by your great driving I don't even recall the sound!! I may need another ride!

What is your take on all the sound stuff. You had the supercups and now the maxiflow?

Ok, if you make the Oct DE (clockwise), I'll give you another ride. I have a feeling I'm going to be busy since I'm one of the few that know the track backwards.

Now for exhaust, I have to say that I really like the Maxflows for a street 993. They just sound the best to me (again for a street car), and I've listened to several different brands/types. You can make them even throatier by cutting out the airbox or using the motorsound airbox. Now that my car is track only, I wish I had the Supercups back. I loved the sound. Too bad my kid kept projectile vomiting every time I put her in the back seat when I had the Supercups!!!!! BUT, I am actually going to keep the Maxflows on the car. I really enjoy having the quietest car in a race, no one can hear me mess up.

We have pictures and sound clips on our web site www.discovery-automotive.com
Shadowman - do you have a link to the sound clips? I can't seem to find anything on the site.

Again........ this was a terrible way to make a first post.

Take care

Shadowman....that exhaust really does sound awesome. But that was on a 996. How does the 993 exhaust sound? Similar? I've heard the sound clips from Fabspeed for a 997, 996, and a 993, all sound very different. Comparing the three, the 997 sounds the best, kinda like the exhaust that you recommended. The Fabspeed 993 exhaust sounds nothing like the 997's. The 993 exhaust, the maxflos, IMO, were not that loud.

does anyone feel the claimed 15hp that the fabspeed max flows give, i would be interested for my 993 if that great sound came with the claimed horse power.

I would be wary of any wildly optimistic horsepower claims from a new exhaust. IMHO, 15 hp is wildly optimistic.

I have the fabspeed maxflows. While they sound awesome they will not give you an increase in HP. I have done before and after dynos plus the seat dyno to prove this hypothesis.

So in my research on this topic, which partly consisted of searching for and reading many, many posts from over the last few years , I found this about the Fabspeeds: **** poor quality top to bottom, obnoxious, rude, and offensive. However, that really only referred to the owner of Fabspeed and his contributions to the Rennlist community and his insults of people like Robin, but it appears they have nice looking products and an excellent marketing staff to come up with a catch phrase like "performance for the next millenium." Now that is just plain cool. ... seriously. ... cool.

I tried to find some of the posts that illustrate my point, but mostly I received this... "This post has been deleted due to it's blatent disregard of the self promotion rules associated with this community. " Sorry.

Anyway, I went with GHL's and have been very happy so far. Nice addition to the sound. A little deeper, more throatiness, and no resonance. Er... no drone. Whatever you call it. The engine has an exhaust note sweet spot at around 2600-2900 rpms - perhaps something to do with the range of least backpressure or something equally technical - but substitute what I said with something that actually might make sense. The first few days with the GHL's I could definitely hear it drone in that range, but it might just be because I was really listening for it. Now there is definitely no resonance or drone. Overall I'm very happy with them. Not sure I'm 100% convinced about the tips though, but you can use your factory tips with them.

Your results (and perceptions) may vary, but there is very little out there on GHL's and I thought I'd share my experience.
