Removing hard shell from factory sport seats
I have long wanted to remove my hard shell seat backs from my 993 sport seats, however I have held off as I'm concerned about possible problems such as stretching or damaging.
Does anyone have experience doing this? Any tips on pro's/con's, final results would be much appreciated. I have located a great source for painting the seat backs and am not worried about the painting part - mostly concerned about removal & putting back together as the seats are currently brand new perfect condition.

how are they going to paint them with the square "Porsche" logo on the back? i have long thought about doing this and went so far to consult a local well-respected paint/body shop. they werent worried about getting the shells off and then reattaching. what they WERE worried about was that little square logo...see, i guess that the logo itself is the same color/contrast as the seat backs...its not a sticker. so there is really no way to paint them without messing up that logo...at least so i am told.
rumor has it that Ray Joseph at rpmsportscars.com has found a way to do it with some local shop in Houston...but this i cannot confirm....

Was painted seat backs a factory option? If yes, was it also painted underneath the Porsche sticker on the back, or just around it?
EDIT: Found it! Reply no 29 & 30.

Just pry the Porsche logos off and either re-glue them or buy new ones (not expensive from the dealer).
