Suppose your name was drawn for the right to purchase a 997 Club Coupe?

If a Porsche enthusiast is in the market, for that money what would the options be?
993 Turbo (+ $ for mods & ins.)
GT3
Used 996 Turbo
All come to mind.
OTOH if I won it I'd keep it. I kind of like the color. And I know if I won it I'd really like the color.

Sorry, Craig. I was responding to the question in the title of the thread.
Of course, for the person who wins the car, all opinions on its investment value are moot. That still leaves the other 49 "lucky" people.

The concept of "Limited Edition" these days does not have the same value as it used to. These days, they are nothing more than a marketing ploy to get extra press coverage (kinda like the, "my poll numbers are down, let's go bomb some country" strategy) or to extend the life of a model towards the end of its lifecycle.
As usual, the US definition of Club Sport is a little different than the European definition, so even in that way, you're most likely shortchanged. If you want a track car, get a GT3. If you want a limited edition that'll hold it's value, go invest in gold.
As a final sanity check, scan prices for the 50th anniversary 996 and see what you come up with.

Not to change the subject completely, but has anyone heard who the "Lucky" three PCA members are that have been picked to maybe win the Club Coupe yet? The drawing was to have taken place last week???
We have a friend in So cal that was on of the "lucky" folks whose name was drawn just for the privilage to be able to buy to buy the Club Coupe. He ran to Circle Imports in Long Beach and placed his deposit. Not something we would have done, but we are all different and our differences is what makes this world such an interesting place. Heck even if we won one, I'm sure we'd sell it and get another 993. I have my eye on a C2S for me right now, we just don't have the room for it and we are still stuck living in old gizerville where sports cars of any type are run off the road!!!

I saw the car in Hershey and it is sweet. The color, California Azzurro is really quite nice in person. It has ~388 hp with the X51 package and it's a nice car. Hopefully I'll win the one PCNA is giving away because I couldn't buy one if selected without paying off the house and a few other things first. So if someone else wins it and doesn't like the color then I'll be glad to drive it for you.
