Any Experience With HID Kits From XenonDepot?
Anyone have any experience with the HID kits from XenonDepot.com? The price seems fair and I like the fact it plugs into the current connectors.
I'm new to Rennlist - and have searched for XenonDepot - only to find one mention of the site.
Any input would be appreciated.

The site states:
"The XenonDepot HID Conversion kit will use genuine Philips bulbs and ballasts. Custom moulded bases will be used to ensure proper fitment and beam patterns. This product will include a complete wiring harness that will literally plug directly into your OEM headlight harness via proper mating connectors. The harness provided will include upgraded fuses and relays to ensure you do not draw a higher current from your stock harness than it was designed to provide. This product will utilize the newly designed Philips XLD 145 slim ballast. This new design will enable the product be used in a wider variety of applications. Furthermore, this product has been designed to offer higher levels of water and heat resistance."
Sounds great, but what am I missing?

Eric,
It sounds like they will provide you a harness that will interface the HID kit with the present headlight wiring, but it doesn't say that you will still retain the slide out feature of the 993 headlights. I may be wrong though... best way to find out would be to email them and ask.
BTW, if they are only providing an interface harness, that is what the other kits do too at a much lower cost than than what I see from them.
Good luck... let us know what you find out.

Since I can't seem to find anymore Caqtz HID kits, I'll probably end up buying a set of them from Xenondepot. They're based in Toronto so local pickup for me is the motivating reason. Maybe they'll work out a better deal.

Yeah, that's me. I use my car for the Total911 monthly installments titled "Living the Legend". I've written a few stories for them as well with more coming soon but the Living the Legend is a short monthly update of the car and my experiences with it throughout each month. I'm glad to hear more people becomming aware of the magazine.
By the way, what's up with Rennlist all of a sudden? I can't access the site from my desktop and I'm forced to use my Blackberry to gain access. It's as though it times out and can't be found by my desktop but strangely enough, I'm still getting post reply notifications via email.

Are you kidding? Have you ever looked at list pricing for Porsche [especially 911 series] parts before? Window switches retail at around $60 for a simple piece of plastic with a spring inside and a metal ground on the back....Keychains are $10-$15ea...a Porsche golf shirt is $75; the Porsche genuine badge on the box makes it an expensive part....
My guess also is that the older gen Xenons cost a lot more to make since the technology was newer, and Porsche probably doesn't have a lot of them sitting on the shelves for almost 10 year old cars....

I understand that. But, I seem to recall several guys on this board hopping for factory HIDs when these aftermrket units are much cheaper. When I see thingslike that,I amtypically inclined to believethere must be some reason why folks spend so much more for factory units.
And yes, I've looked at 911 parts prices... at least once or twice.
