Question PSS9 or JIC Suspension??????

I think it may be time to try a new suspension on my 96 993. I have been doing some reading on the suspension and which way to go but I am unsure if PSS9 is the way or JIC? I want the car to handle very, very well when I am doing AutoX and DE events. A harder rider I can deal with if it gives value in handling. Please give me your thoughts on the ideal suspension and I assume I need to also add the RS sways when I do the suspension????

Please give me your thoughts...pros/cons Thanks

Firstly, budget tends to determine suspension choices, then intended usage. Keeping it simple would lead you to Bilstein HD's and ROW M030 springs. M030 sway bars would be a great start as well. If you like to mess around with adjustments, trial and error, RS bars and adjustable dampers would be good. Adjustable bars from TRG and H&R are available as well.

IMO, Bilstein PSS9 quality is all over the map. Increasing budget will find yourself in Moton land. Motons are quality pieces. I am not sure where ride comfort plays into this decision, although.

i have two sets of motons on different cars.
they are great for track use, but i don't think you would want them for streets.

I plan on using the car 50/50 for road track since this car is not my daily driver. Thank you for your assistance.

Would it or would it not make sense to go with an adjustable system to tweak it for track, autox, and that fun back road weekend drive?

I have the JIC/Cross comp setup, with TRG bars and am amazed at the performance and quality of the pieces. They are beautifully and elegantly made and allow the car to be very balanced. I am right about in the middle of the setting range for DEs and street and love the performance, yet I still have plenty of adjustment left to go either way in the dampening. I can't speak highly enough about them.

The Motons actually ride pretty well; it's the monoballs that make the car crash a bit on the street. As it's been expalined to me, Bilsteins are a DeCarbon design with higher pressures than the Motons with their lower pressures and lower preload.

my moton is set up just for track use, thus not comfy on street.
yes, they are adjustable, but wiht race seats, harness and roll bar in the cabin, it's very hard for me to reach the rear adjustments. and since i am on track every other week, i just leave it be. so it's kind of painful for ME on streets ;-)

I have PSS-9s on the 993 and JIC-Cross on the 964. I think the JIC are much better in terms of adjustability and my perception of quality. Given the choice between the two again, I would not get PSS-9s.

Moton's are wonderful shocks. However, for someone who isn't going to play with adjustments all the time (different settings for different tracks and conditions), I think the JIC are fine.

I have a Roock Racing/H&R coilover setup for sale. Has about 4000miles on it if you're interested. Perfect working condition. I ende dup getting a RUF suspension.

Asking $1500 plus 30 dollars shipping.

I have 2 friends that are very happy with their JIC suspensions; great performance for the price. I also have two friends who have had problems with their PSS9 suspensions with broken shocks. If I were doing a suspension for a combo street/track car, I would be getting the JIC.

I will most certainly be going with the JIC over Pss9 this winter. After speaking to a number of people on this issue, there seems to be a strong consensus of actual users that swear by the quality of the JIC Cross over the Pss9. In addition to the better quality, the JIC's come with the camber plates as part of the cost - a nice bonus which should be evaluated when comparing the two systems.

I've had both -

If you are not going to go to a full race setup (i.e. Moton) get the JIC. They offer much better handling and quality and come with monoball mounts.

Thank you for all the great info! Does anyone know of any Rennlist sponsor that sells the Jic or where can I get the best price on the JIC?

Thanks again,
Paul

Now that my car is aligned, I am very happy with my JIC. I believe Devek sells them. If you use the car for street I would recommend the 7kg front and 10kg rear for the springs. Good luck
