Yours looks like an out of sequence VIN for some reason, you sure the month is "2" and not 5 or 7?

1996 Dec-95 1768 The Brewmeister
1996 Jan-96 1918 ABCar
1996 Jan-96 1970 bcameron59

never mind, I see there lots of numbers in your range in Feb, must be something else going on:

From what I understand, cars started out on the assembly line in sequence; but some cars were pulled off the line to be built with specific features/options. They would go to the Exclusive/Tequipment department to be outfitted, and then put back on the assembly line to finish. This happened to Sienfeld's "last" blue 993 ~ if you look at the sequence of VINs his is NOT the last one off the line because Exclusive had it for months building it to his exact specs. AFAIK, an RLer had the true last Vin'd 993 and it was a black widebody.

this sounds correct as I had some strange option codes on mine. When I investigated further it looked like it went to a second factory for some extra work. Decoding the option codes has been fun alongside the ownership. Didnt think that it affected the VIN # til Boman brought it up. Thanks.

I'm not sure I understand what bowman993 was saying about sequence of numbers. When was the vin put on the car ? Beginning of the line , or the end? Same goes for the date stamp?
Thanks in advance

VIN is assigned when they assign a production date to the car, so you will have the VIN before the metal moves down the line.

That makes sense . I guess now my question would be , how do we tell if our car has been pulled into the exclusive end of the production line?
As mentioned above^^^^

Where would my car fit into the order of vin , v.s. stamped production date in relation to its siblings?
