Default CEL went out -- IM ready?

Completed the SAI DIY on my 993 about 300-500 miles ago -- but my CEL light did not go out until this morning (I decided to change my normal routine today and let it idle for a few minutes after a cold start before driving away on my daily commute and kept it under 3k RPMS for the first 10 miles or so...).

I've read all the posts here (and on the PCA site) regarding the drive cycle required before a 993 is ready for emissions testing after clearing the CEL codes manually (or having the battery out for an extended period) -- but I was wondering if the fact that my CEL went out on its own after several hundred miles of driving means the car is ready for testing now? Opinions/experience? Can't knock a guy for trying...

If not ready, my plan is to pick up an Innova/Equus tester and start trying the various drive cycle routines people have recommended (curious to me why no one has quoted the "official" procedure from the Porsche factory workshop/repair manuals) to verify that the car is ready for testing.

Btw, first lengthy post for me in a few years. Was an original porschelist member when I had my first P-car, a 944S (one of the first dozen or so members of that group). Then came a 964, now the 993. Amazing how this community has grown -- and from the looks of it, prospered. Congrats to all who make it possible and thanks to everyone for your shared wisdom and support over the years.

Steve Casey

Current/running:
96 993 C2, black on tan, sound package (Turbo tips and air "horn")
'89 BMW 325i conv, white on navy -- wife's car, nice on a summer night like tonite, or with the golf clubs in the back seat
04 Honda Odyssey -- fits our three boys
79 Yamaha RD400F Daytona -- last of the aircooled two-strokes -- just got it running this week after a two-year resto

In process:
Mid '60s Bultaco TSS 200cc roadracer/cafe street bike, single-cylinder two-stroke
Late 60s Bultaco TSS 350cc roadracer/cafe street bike, ditto, but bigger, faster, louder

History:
87 944S, white on white (I know, but it was used, and pristine)
91 964 C2, white on red (same story -- after a LWF conversion, fabspeed chip/rear muffler delete pipe and cup car airbox mod -- felt/sounded faster than my 993)
78 Fiat 124 Spider, fitted wth Abarth model flares, exhaust, etc.
89 Kawasaki KDX 200 trail bike, also last of the aircooleds
75 Honda CR125, perfect bike for a motocross-crazed 16-year old
Plus a couple of beater VW Bugs, a few Saabs and even an Opel Manta Rallye

Hi Steve, I would check the ODB II with a scaner to be sure every thing is reset and ready to be tested. Good luck.
P.S. Nice bike collection. I had a '72 Pursang that I used to race moto-x with.

A '79 Yamahe Daytona Special. That is the one bike I truly regret selling. Congrats on the resto. Gotta get another one of those.
