Default CCU Removal

I need to remove my friend CCU for it to be sent off for reapair, he has no air con in his 993, the tech tell him that the car can be driven without the CCU installed, is this right or is he risking over heat or some such problem?

What's the easist method of removing this?

You can remove it easily, I believe the simple instructions are on p-car.com. You insert the tool in the four little hole (2 each side) and pull it out. It's just like radio removal. The car will run without a CCU - but you will not have an oil cooler fan. You must either jumper the fan or make sure you don't get the oil too hot (ie, don't drive in stop and go traffic without jumpering the fan). Instruction for jumpering the fan are also on p-car.com (look at the trouble shooting info).
