I think one of the best systems for protecting cab tops is the RaggTopp products. Specifically, the RaggTopp cleaner (when necessary) and the RaggTopp Protectant.
The Protectant should be applied (actually about 3 coats) initially to a clean top. Be sure to put a soft blanket over the overspray areas to keep it from getting on the paint/windows. In particular, be sure to protect/cover the rear window to prevent overspray on it.
Great articles and good reading for a new cab owner. I use the Porsche cleaner and protectant. I'll wash the top maybe one every month or two and spray protectant twice a year. I also keep it covered when not in use to protect it from UV rays and all the dirt and grim that would get into the fabric without it.
Raggtopp cleaner and protectant...each 3 months...a good test to check whether or not you need an application right now is to leave a couple of water drops over the top to see if it will bed the drops.
though raggtopp does get some criticism... i use it & love it. being in socal, i rarely have to use the cleaner. i do use the waterbased protectant on the top twice a year & it beads water like my waxed hood. (i do mask it befroe spraying) ... btw: the 1st time i used it i was amazed how well it conditioned, actually brought some black back too. (uv-protection too)
surfer bol on your car care... great looking cab btw! (& wifey too ) congrats &
also, be sure & NOT leave your top down for more than a day...esp. days on end... really stretches it out & in some cases even creates small holes where it folds. just FYI.
