Watch your back on the seats, they are heavy. With that mentioned, before you unplug the old seats you will want to tilt the seat back forward to make it easier to get the drivers side out. If you raise the 996 seat bottom the shock is really strong and you will have to sit on the seat to get it back down.

Good luck with the install and have a Happy Birthday too!
Thank you, i'm very happy now after having this thread printed with the pics, it will be helpful and it seems to be a DIY I can manage to do with my friends.
I really like you're GT3 seats erik, they look perfect and very clean in the 993.I have a few pictures of my 996 seats I snapped with camera phone, I love the support they give me for my lower back and I can't complain about how cool they look imo plus my dog gordon approves..haha

Just wanted to bump this to the top. The instructions were excellent with no real surprises.

All I can say is that those tabs are a bit tougher than a few whacks with a hammer (i used a 4lb sledge), and that make sure the seat rails are all the way forward when you go to put the seats in.

Further note, my sport seats came with the harness plug removed and just the two wires with pins. I was able to dremel off the tips of the pins and insert the wires right into the plug of the 993 harness. Not bullet connectors needed.

Seats look awesome. My only gripe is that the seat is angle downward towards the front a bit even when fully lowered. Guess I could put washers under the front bolts?

Quad, did you get those NJ seats that were well-priced? I got concerned about that deal after seeing the brake set-up that he was selling!

I hope that was the deal that you got! I really enjoy my 997 GT3 seats. Just did 500 miles on Saturday and they are so supportive and comfortable.

I didn't. I was a bit late on that one. Another member got them and said they were in nice shape.

That said, i put up a WTB post and a bunch of members had pristine seats. I found a guy in northern NJ (maybe 20 minutes from my house) who had a set that were literally brand new and he gave me a great deal, so EMBPilot and I drove up there yesterday and scooped them.

Spent the next few hours putting them in (yeah, my neighbors think I'm unusual).

I'll second that -- couldn't have done it without this thread. And, yes the hammering took more than a few wacks....

You ain't lying about the hammers and grinders. I long for an oil change or something.

nice pics LOL

On the upside, I did find about $1.85 in change under the seats so I'm halfway to cup of coffee.

Nice going guys and I am glad that you found a nice set. I was lucky that a RLer sold me my 997 seats and had installed them in his 993. They just bolted right into mine. 20 minutes!

Enjoy!

Just did a GT3 sport seat install in my C2S.

Here are my notes:

Metal saw for the rear metal pin. This metal is soft, it's 1 minute max each pin with a good saw blade.
Instead of cutting the front brackets & using a hammer i removed it by drilling the 2 "metal rivets" holding the front brackets. I took off the spring and didn't put it back in. It's a helper spring to bring the seat forward by itself when one pulls on the lever.

For the connections, I made an adapter with bullet crimps for the 993 connector and insulated female blade connectors for the 997 connector.

Seat can revert back to a 996 or 997 usage by reinstalling the spring and it's front bracket

Original seats (in my 96) used 6 bolts per. 4 in rear, 2 at front. Were yours installed with only 4?
