hmmm.... i guess i agree with you about the non-insured...but you dont have to be an illegal [assume you mean Mexican] to be non insured...

i am glad no one was hurt and agree that anyone driving without insurance is a bad thing...but as a fellow Texan i have to say that without Mexicans putting on roofs in 105 degree weather, cooking in all the kitchens, etc... this state would come to its knees...

not trying to be too off-topic or controversial.... these posts about "illegals" just sort of rubbed me a little weird when i read them...

Jonathon glad you brought it up. I wasn't sure I should have posted that, but I wanted to open the dialog if anyone cared to.
As in Texas, LA run on Mexican labor and would cease to function without it. I employ many, all Oxacan, and all great people. BUT... bad driving skills, lack of any responsibility or concern for said responsibility, all add up to increased premiums in not just our auto insurance, but medical also. Do I have a quick fix, of course not. The problem is huge, will define our culture for the future, and may bankrupt many insurers and muncipalities before long.
All that being said, this poor guy just lost his beautiful cab because of a uninsured illegal immigrant with marginal driving skills....

agreed with your comments about the uninsured guy...this sucks...he shouldnt have been driving and i am just glad that no one got hurt....

my only [controversial] point here is that if you wanted to sweep the street of Mexicans here in TX, the cost by impact to the economy from lost labor would be much more $$ than the insurance premium inflation you are discussing... i am not saying that is is right, correct, just, etc...i am just stating an [unfortunate] fact...TX would be a much more expensive place to live without our illegal Mexican labor force here...

now this is all the $$ angle of it, which says nothing for the immeasurable damage from people getting hurt by an irresponsible uninsured motorist, etc... thats a whole other issue/point...

wow... had to do a double take on that... very out of place... the accident looks strangely "perfect". almost staged.

what a great job the car did for it's occupants. ferry.

It looks almost as if the wing was sliced off... very "clean" - and the cabin looks very much intact.

Lost labor isn't the only point to it, they soak up medical insurance, take away jobs from citizens of our country, don't pay taxes etc etc.....they are called illegal's for a reason. Not sure why you have a problem with someone telling it how it is. In any case, why are you trying to point out that the illegal shouldn't have been driving because he wasn't insured? He shouldn't have been in the country in the first place! What is worse being an illegal or driving without insurance? I would say the former.....nothing wrong with being Mexican, I have been dating one for 5 years and love her dearly, great girl. In fact, she is more anti-illegal then I am. But clearly this acceptance of illegals (of all nationalities) in this country is getting out of hand IMHO- and I don't even live in the area where the majority of them are located...........Remember, it was you who assumed (by your own words), that he was referring to a Mexican when all he mentioned was illegals.....

My only reason for even posting this was the words you posted, "my only [controversial] point here is that if you wanted to sweep the street of Mexicans here in TX"....frankly, I find that to be more out of line then his comment- for one he never said Mexicans. Two, not all Mexican's are illegal and noone ever mentioned getting rid of hard working American citizens who happen to be Mexican......to clump those people in with illegal's just isn't right.....

On a side note, your car is one of my favorite on this board

Sorry for the owner of that cab, glad everyone is OK.

and there is a BIG problem with illegals. maybe they support the local industry by allowing businesses to run cheaply, but there's a pretty high social cost. in addition to the no taxes/drain on jobs pool aspect, they make a vicious cycle for themselves by assuring that fewer people of their nationality/skill will be hired at a decent wage. also, the irresponsibility required to enter and work in the US illegally transfers to other aspects of life...car accidents being one, crime another. locally, we recently had a brazilian illegal arrested and deported who was wanted in brazil for the murder of a couple children. he'd been working here for years because people like you think it's ok for him to do so. think about what, and who, you're turning a blind eye to.

Hey Jonathan, they have plenty of illegals ini California, and already people have posted that they are a big part of the workforce, yet I venture to say that LA isn't the cheapest place to live. So the illegals sure hasn't helped them much. Except drive their government to near bankruptcy.

I don't mind immigration, just illegal ones.
