Depends on what you want - I am usually not a resort-type, and I would suggest Okracoke. Quiet, slow, beautiful beaches, etc. Not fancy at all.

If you are a golfer, too many places to list.

If you like mountains/hills, places like Asheville and resorts in the mountains, Lake Lure (of Dirty Dancing fame, I think), etc.

Historic Charleston is nice - try the B&B on battery park (if I recall it correctly), it is white with columns up front, trying to remember the name...

During B'Ball season, if you can swing a ticket, B'Ball games are a hoot and the Blue Devils will be good this year.

VIR is not that far away.....

Again, it all depends on what you like and are looking for...

Enjoy your break!

If you go towards the SC beaches consider Surfside Beach, adjacent to Myrtle Beach (south). Not as crowded and more families than Myrtle, plus there are some good deals on 2br condos this year. Lots to do with kids and not pricey as some places mentioned.

Not trying to dissuade your decision but thought you should know that NOAA predicts above normal storm activity in the area Aug. 15th- Oct. 15th.
11-14 more storms and up to 9 more hurricanes are predicted.

Thanks for the info. Here is what I have planned so far

I will be staying at Hilton Head for a few days, then will go to FL for a few days to visit the in-laws. On my way back to NJ I would like to stop over in NC or SC again for a night, but I am not sure where to stay. I don't want to drive to far off of I95, any suggestions would be great

Thanks
