thanks... I can only wonder because I do 'hear' something trying when I press the remote button but do not hear anything when I press the center console button... I guess it is time to buy the brain and hope that takes care of the problem...

This is my first posting, so sorry in advance if I get it wrong.
I have a 97 993 cab and recently the sound of the keyfob remote was a robust think think when locking or unlocking in order to start the car. Now the sound is barely audible, yet the car starts. I am worried that it will eventually fail totally. Car battery and fob battery are brand new.
Any ideas? thank you

I went through something similar a few months back. See this thread. My symptoms might have been different than yours though. There are a number of old posts talking about similar issues too. Remember: start with the easy and cheap stuff first.
