Default Bought my 993 and have climate control and Keyless entry questions

Well I bought a 1998 93 C2S and it rocks. I will post pictures soon so you don't go through to many withdrawls. I know have my 911 3.2 and the 993 parked in the garage. I am enjoying it while it lasts but the 911 will be for sale soon unless I can convince the wife that two porsches are better than one.

Questions

There is a noise coming from the climate control after I shut off the engine. It sounds like a small fan running. It lasts for about 10 minutes. It started about a week after I bought the car and had been running the ac for a few hours. Is this normal and if not, what can be done about it?

Regarding the keyless entry, I have to hold the remote about a foot away from the window for the car to unlock. Is this normal? Where is the sensor on the car? Has anyone come up with a system that is better?

thanks

hey, congrats on the car. can't wait to see pictures. i'm not too sure about the fan, i'm sure someone will chime in on it. the keyless entry has a crappy range. it usually takes holding down the button for a while and close to the car.

what color car did you get and what does it have?

It is a black coupe, tan interior, RUF 18 inch wheels, S02's, H&R suspension with Bilstiens, Factory installed turbo 11 areo kit, clear indicator kit, fabspeed exhaust, AJ-USA GT sport steering wheel, new brakes, rotors, Weltmeister front bracket, dual coffee cup holder, aluminum shift/handbrake, full leather interior including the dash, Nakamichi stereo, 66K miles, 2 owners and this car was taken care of like I take care of mine. very happy.

Congrats on the new car.

Fan noise is normal... something to do with a climate control sensor under the dash.

Remote operation range diminishes as the batteries wear. Try to remember to replace them at least once a year. Now would be a good time and every anniversary of buying your car as a reminder it's time to change the remote battery.

As a way to increase the range of your remote, you can place it under your chin and press the button... no kidding. Guess you head acts as an antenna... try it... it works... I didn't believe it either when I first heard about that method.

Don't forget the pics.

Which remote do you have? If the switchblade, changing to the seperate key fob one will help the range.

Aloha, brah!!

Rhino,

The car sounds real sweet, and a 1998 to boot.

May I ask where and how did you find this car? When I look at ads, they rarely mention whether it is an S or regular body car.

Enjoy your fine ride in great health.

If I misconstrued your comment, I apologize... but all '98 coupes are wide bodies.

Jeff,

That is true. I forgot.

My comment was generic. When I view 993 ads (other years), it's hard to discern from the tag lines if it is a "S" version or otherwise. So if I'm interested in the "s" per se, I know of no mechanism to sift that information out amongst all the 993 ads.

So excluding the Targa and Cab. only the S and 4S were produced for '98?
