The sounds are doctored ... take a look at the lights he blows through at 4:38 and 5:30. You can see the nose dive, the speed is slow, and then you see the nose jump back up as he nails the throttle again, meanwhile the "sound effects" make it seem like he's flat out in 3rd or 4th gear through it. There were also a few places where the car was done with a corner yet they still had the "screeching tires" sound effect going on.

There are also times where it seems like he's topped out in 4th yet his closing speed on other moving vehicles only appears to be about 20mph. This was definately a "movie" and not a "documentary". Still good though. Listen to it closely next to you watch it and you'll see what I mean.

I agree with regard to the sound. At the very end, the car is screeching to a halt, yet approaching the curb at a pretty reasonable rate. Reminded me of TV in the '70s where cars *always* screeched to a stop, even when they obviously didn't.

I loved it!

He had to have staked it out and had help along the way.

Kids, do not try this at home.

got it (though this cut seems re-mastered & tweaked).
a classic. can always watch it.

btw: nissan tried to do a remake when they relaunched the "z"... of course it also involved setting up road blocks & plenty of police------------------- & it did not touch the original... not even close.

That movie also wasn't 100% true. It plays slightly too quick, to give the apperance of going a bit faster than it does.

Reminds me of our Malibu Fun Runs!

I was looking for the "No animals were harmed in the making of this film - ASPCA"

Not only were the trees not moving by nearly as fast as one would expect, he never managed to hit one bird. At the assumed high speed, the birds and his front end would be toast.

Fun to watch though.

Thank you!!!

I really don't care about the speed, whether is real or staged, nothing... the sound of that car is intoxicating and anything that finishes with hugging a beautiful woman after a nice drive rates top in my book

Reminds me of my drive to work most mornings ( only when I'm late though)
