How do I remove the alternator fan bearing from the fan? Do I need to have it pressed out at a machine shop? Am kinda worried about damaging the fan when I get the bearing pressed out.
How much is a good price for this part and where would be the best place to purchase one?
Thanks.

I carefully supported the backside of the fan and used a block of wood and a hammer to pound the bearing housing out... didn't take too much time or effort to remove it. Nothing was damaged during the removal.

This is a perfect chance (i.e. excuse) to buy a small shop press. That's how I got it off.
EDIT- Sunset Porsche up in Oregon has supplied me alternator parts/pulleys and other things, and have always been great to deal with. You could consider going to the RS single-pulley pulley system (which eliminates the bearing) instead. I'm very happy with it, and it's cheap.

Thanks for the info.
So with the RS pulley set up, I dont need the bearing anymore?
Isnt there a problem with not getting enough charge from the alternator with the RS set up?
Thanks again.

Yes to both your questions, however on the second one I'd say it was an "issue" not a "problem". Search the archives, there are plenty of comments on that one question.
I've switched to the RS pulley too... for me it's worked great. If your alternator is weak then it might be another story.
Good luck!
