Were you using the spacers on the 18" 993 twists pictured in your avatar ?? Maybe the spacers were on the car because those twists are narrow body (65mm) offset??

The sport wheels that came on my car are 65mm offset. I incorrectly assumed that they were 40mm because that's what the owners manual says. When I read max's post I went straight out to the garage and:
And, regarding the part number issue, I found this in another thread:

The bulletin also says that your part number has been replaced by 996 362 142 11 and that this wheel is identical to your part number. This new wheel part number is listed for 2003 up.
However, your part number is still on the parts list, but that does not mean it can be ordered. Call your parts dept and see if it takes you to the part that ends in 11.

Thank you rennlisters. pinoysche, thanks for bringing up the topic so I could get my car straightened out.
