Default Midnight Blue Interior Repair?

I'm considering a 993 that has Midnight Blue interior that is showing more wear in the driver's seat bolster and shifter cover than I like. Is there a source available for buying replacement seat covers etc. that are an exact factory match? Thanks in advance, Mark

Yep, the factory!

You can get replacement seat covers (top and or bottom parts) from Porsche. Ask the dealer to look up the PET Seats catalogue. Not cheap though!

There are re-cover houses that charge (IIRC) about $600 a seat. I'm sure someone else will chime in.

Gort a better idea.

A good auto interior restorer has access to the same colors and leathers as Porsche. Cost you much less too. BTW, we don't believe you paid your dues.

A good interior shop can dye the panel if it is not too badly worn. The benefit is that you preserve the originality and it will last a few years. Just be sure that the way you get into the car and sit into the set is not making it worse.

You might try to re-dye the worn areas. A couple of outfits sell dye to match the original Porsche colors.

If you can send a small piece to Color Plus (colorplus.com) -- like the shift boot, they can make you an exact match of their produt, Surflex. It is easily applied and is made for your type of application. Check out their web site for more specific info.

Thank you all for your advice! I feel much better about considering this car now that I know the bolster problem should not be too big of a deal. Mark

John, Thanks for calling out the product. I have a can of Surflex downstairs but I was up in the loft and too lazy to check on it.

Redying with ColorPlus dye match is easy to do. Like anything else, it is all in prepartaion. I first washed down area with ammonia and than rubbing alcohol. Three or 4 light coats blends in great.

Zedder, Pfaff in Woodbridge uses a guy who comes in and sprays/reconditions any faded, worn interior pieces for the cars that they retail. If you want, have time and the ability to get over there, go check out the 993s that they are selling on their lot. Both have had some "touch-up" work by this guy and they look outstanding. Speak with Greg Moisley and ask him to give you the contact name of the company they use. You'l lsave yourself a ton of cash if you try this method first. The only situation where his services wouldn't work are if the seat/interior pieces are torn or worn right through.

Worst case scenario, I have a friend in the Bloor/Royal York are who has a blue 993 cab with blue interior and he is going to start buying black interior pieces for it and selling off the blue parts.

Thanks guys.

Alon, I was at Pfaffe on Friday and saw the 993 cab on the lot. They were closed for the holiday, but I did look through the windows and it did look very nice. Thanks for the tip, I'll definitely follow up on that! BTW, I saw your pics in the other thread...your car looks great!!! Congrats!

Thanks and I hope you find a great car. I love mine. That's actually my car in my avatar.
