The spokes are hollow as is a small portion of the rim but they're not connected by an air passage.
The sand blasting issue is from the metal valve going through the hollow area on the rim. When the valve is removed blasting material can get in the hollow section of the rim and stay there.
So since the valve is mounted in that hollow bead area of the rim, and the spokes also connect to that same bead, isn't it possible that if some portion of the valvestem on the backside wasn't completely sealed, it would leak into the spoke?
Sooo... I just called the dealership....or should i say STEALERSHIP...take a wild guess how much they are asking for a SINGLE 18X10 OEM turbo twist rim...
