Having owned several muscle cars before I can tell you that the last one was sold BECAUSE it sat in the garage next to my 993.
Loved the sound, the raw power and the ability to smoke the rear tires at will.
But at the same time it still felt big and clunky(?).
After ~15 years of owning it, just decided that it should go to someone that would drive it and appreciate it.
Someone got a REALLY nice un-molested Z-28.

Funny this thread came up! Yesterday I bought a 67 Cuda convertable with a 273 (and a 360 which I'll build), and blew my 993 suspension money. I couldn't pass this car, way too good of a deal. I'm hoping to restore it over the next 1-1.5 years, sell it, and put the profit towards a TT

I still feel if you can afford both, do it, however, if you can only have one, a 993 is it!

David, if you're like me (and as others have pointed out) the restoration process is actually a lot of the fun. Going to the Pomona swap meet and sourcing parts. Seeing the transformation and having the before and after experience are all positives. Good luck on your project and your future TT!

Thanks Craig, actually I am looking forward to the restoration "work". It should be easy to wrench on this compared to a later model anything!

Are you driving anything old and heavy with a lot of displacement?

Not any more. My BIGGEST claim to fame was my '68 Roadrunner. But that was (way) back in high school.
Had a '34 Ford 3 widow, 2 '56 chevys, '66 'bird (freeway flyer), '53 & '56 Ford F100 P/Us, '70 SS El Camino and the "Z".
Now just the '97 Targa and a '94 Z71.
I did enjoy "twistin the wrenches" on 'em though. But you know how time is. It makes the memories grow fond.

The memory of my 69 Hemi Road Runner is better than the reality. They are way dated cars with very little sophistication. If you just want a show car to have some fun once in a while it's great. But to drive it for any other reason is like listening to it's AM radio compared to a new Bose symphony system. Go with the Bose 993.

I had a 1969 mach 1 cobra jet (428 ci) that I sold in the mid 80's...Really dont miss it much ...it handled like a wheel barrel full of bowling *****! Also had a 1965 Mustang that had a lot of Shelby treatments.
