That is why you are not friends with the people you do business with because there is no trust. I think I finally understand your view of the transaction.

Based on Truspeed's post here, no harm done. They come out smelling like a rose and hopefully will be able to get a few sales from this site as your experience has shown how professional and accommodating they really are.

To some, a handshake is all you need.

indeed different business model. for me, a verbal agreement IS a contract. any contract CAN be negotiate IF BOTH sides agree to it. if only one side wants to renoegotiate, then it's a no go, the last agreed contract IS the contract.

"That is why you are not friends with the people you do business with because there is no trust. I think I finally understand your view of the transaction."

An inaccurate assumption. I dont think you understand my view of the transaction at all. Why? B/c you are missing a very important detail...you do not know what was discussed today. You do not know what was offerred and how much it was. Again, my mistake was in timing.

BTW, I have plenty of friends who are clients...but they became friends AFTER they were clients and after I had made them a lot of money. And beleive it or not, many of them have changed verbal agreements with me. My response? It's just business, it is not personal so why take it as such? Is it frustrating? Sometimes. But if the client changes the agreement and I blast them, then they will never be a client b/c of my response. If they change the agreement and i take it in stride, they are still my client and trust is actually built.

BUT, we are talking about CLIENT relationships and trying to compare them to CUSTOMER/TRANSACTION relationships. I view them different.

Anyway, as much as I enjoy this (and I actually do), my mom says I have to come in for dinner now.

Just my $.02 on Truspeed...

As many of you know, the particulars of my transaction and subsequent events were very unique (a negotiation, a PPI, some dealer-paid repairs, a CEL 2 days later, and the discovery that the car was sold one month prior for $10k less with full CEL disclosure). Truspeed was as shocked as I at the history of the vehicle (which, by the way, Carfax didn't reveal at all).

I was very upset for some time (at Truspeed too), but came to realize that my anger was misplaced... I was very unfortunate that this happened to me, and in the end recognized that I was damn lucky I bought the car from Truspeed and not an unethical dealer or private owner. They've stepped up and shared some of the significant costs for repairs that I've opted to have, which they didn't have to do but did anyway.

It took me looking at the glass from a "half full" perspective rather than "half empty" to finally see the positives which will come from this.

My regards to Truspeed and Hergesheimer for walking me through this at times very difficult set of circumstances.
