Just wanted to give everyone an update. He claims it worked fine once he got it back, so I asked for a refund. It's been a month so I sent him a reminder email this morning and just received a paypal from him this afternoon.

Overall, I'm happy he gave me my money back. I think that's pretty respectable considering I bought it March 15, 2002. To bad it never worked and I had to go through so much trouble.

Anyone care to recommend another PC or Pocket PC OBD-2 software package?

I had the obd-2.com tool. I had it working once a few years ago and couldn't get it going again on my new laptop. If like me you're mainly interested in reading codes and clearing lights, then I'd avoid this product like the plague. The UI at least for these use cases is terrible.

I bought a Equus 3100 at Kragen. It's simple and works everytime.
