Default stalling after heavy rainfall. Help

Dear all,

Apparently every time when I park outside during a rainfall the moisture seems to be getting in the distributor and causing the stalling. I have the RSR spoiler and water is going directly into the engine compartment. Anyone has any method which can prevent or minimize the problem?

Thanks,

You may want to make sure there are no small cracks in your distributor caps, I had this problem with my '86 Carrera many years ago.

How long has it been since your plug wires were checked?. Not sure if this is related but my car was misfiring after sitting in the rain because the insulation on the wires was cracked, (58K).

Based on having this happen on an old Austin America, would agree with the bad distributor cap theory; second is the wires.

How to minimize the problem? Besides the above replacements, did you have it with the OE engine lid/spoiler? If it occurred right after the RSR installation, could always go back to the original intallation. I don't know what the factory did to try to keep water off of the engine, but you might check the underside of the factory lid.
