"Others have commented on the dead starts being a little more tricky. My 964 required a little more throttle and finesse to avoid PIO or stalling. Probably the same for the 993."
NO, this is not the case for MY96+. i believe that this is due to OBDII (so MY95 cars do have stalling issues though i have heard they are not bad). i have had my lwf for over 15k miles now and i have not stalled it once (well, once backing up in reverse, but that was just sloppy driving and had nothing to do with the lwf).

I'm a bit confused. Do you have personal experience w/a LWF in a 993, of any year? I ask because my LWF installation has resulted in far more noticeable driving improvements than you relate. My performance observations are the same as those of mborkow.

The LFW is fine in all MY1996 and beyond as the software will catch any stall due to the LFW just not the driver induced ones....I have to admit on hill starts with the bite of the RS and the LFW I still sometimes dont get the revs quite right and tend to over compensate...hence over rev but I would still not go back to a DMF......and yes there is some chatter from the gears in 1st and 2nd under load...my son asked me what the noise was but when I said it was the new FW he commented that it made it sound more like a race prepared car rather than a wussy sports car to please rich people....kids who'd have em!!!!

By the way he is a BMW and Toyota Supra twin turbo fan....although secretly I think he would like a 951 if he could afford the insurance...he still regrets me selling my red demon

When I installed the UUC lwf and e34 M5 clutch in my M3, the recommendation was to run a thicker oil in the transmission (in this case Redline MT-90) ... this seemed to eliminate any gear rattle at idle and in theory offered a bit of extra cushioning for the synchros.

Would this thinking not also apply to the 993 lwf??
