LWF-Finally Finished!!!
*3:30 a.m. (remember, this is a WORK night! We must be nuts!) it's done.We wash up in preparation for the "turning of the key".The car is finished but still up on jackstands. We give it one final inspection, discussing all of the connections, etc., I climb in, look back at Dung with a thumbs up and......
VRRROOOM! She roars to life! We celebrate with huge smiles and handshakes.
Tuesday. Get her off the jackstands, in prep for the test drive. I topped off the power steering fluid, added more oil (11 qts. total). I noticed the right side fuel line was leaking at the connection, so I took it apart, added some pipe thread sealant, and it was good to go.
Test Drive-Right off the bat, I noticed that the clutch pedal was much easier to push in, and it was very smooth. Nice. Also , the release point of the clutch is lower than it used to be. That will take a little getting used to.
I take her out slow, to get her good and warmed up.After she is up to temp, I gave her a little Italian tune-up. Hard on the accelerator, and 6K on the tach comes very quickly, with no hesitation. Wow! I like it. I take her home, park in neutral, and listen for "the extra noise" associated with this mod. Not bad at all. It has a little extra grumbling, but you have to listen for it. No problem.
Dung comes over that evening, and gives her a test drive. I stand outside while he gives her a few quick revs. The sound of my modified mufflers screaming is like music to my ears. Dung is very impressed, and thinks it is more responsive than his car.
what would you guess was the total time for the upgrade? Also, aside from the LWF, the r/s motor mounts and clutch, and plug replacement, did you tack on anything else, while she was out, as they say?
It took about 2 1/2 days, total. About 30 hours. We took our time, and did a lot of exploring, cleaning and discussing of things. A few things took us a little while to figure out, how to remove, or re-install them. I think next time, we could probably do it in half the time.
Here was my list:
LWF
R/S Clutch
Pressure plate
new gear oil (Mobil1 75W-90)
new motor oil + filters (Mobil1 15W-50 Ext. Perf.)
new power steering fluid (Dexron III ATF)
spark plugs-much easier when the engine is out
engine hood shocks-much easier when the engine is out
R/S motor mounts
Checked, but not replaced:
slave cylinder
spark plug wires
valve cover gaskets
visually inspected vacuum lines, wires etc.

You make me feel like I should be abusing my clutch to wear it out faster so I can install this mod sooner.

Hope the SAI valve was installed earlier.
Enjoy, man!!
Cheers....
to you both!
