I believe they are standard, as I've seen them on at least 6 different 40th Anniversary cars.

Although I have to say that I did see one 40th for sale once online that did not have sport seats, and it looked they were either taken out by the dealer or the previous owner.

The only 40 Jahre that don't have the painted seat backs are ones with non-sport seats. Yes, I forgot about the fitted luggage, key fob and wallet all in that incredible leather.

Mine has the comfort seats - all black - and I forgot to mention the luggage, great quality I might add. I'm 6"-3" and the seats are more comfortable than my BMW 540.

The sound system is great and the Navigation system is a neat deal too. They just sent me an updated data CD with all new streets for the US.

Heated sports seats with factory painted backs are standard. Comfort seats (usual seats in all leather) are an option.

Thanks, mine are black and heated. I guess that means they were an option. In any case I love em.

Wait a minute, the back of your seats are black? Are they leather/vinyl or hard plastic? All 40 Jahre cars that have sport seats have the backs painted in body color, just like the center console.

Either way, who cares, it's a beautiful car.

They appear to be vinyl or plastic with a leather covering. Black indeed with a hook at the back of the headrest.

The 40th Anniversay is a screamin' deal right now as there are still some new, untitled cars available. My dealer here in SE PA still has one (fully optioned) that stickered at $96K that could be had for a steal.

Just dont go test drive it, unless you possess incredible impulse control. Its like a siren of The Oddessy.

I too think a 40th car is a screaming package with all of the right equipment. A C4S looks better but you lose valuable trunk space.

I drive my 996 as a daily driver and don't want to go backwards to the noisier and rougher 993 version.
Has anybody got some seat time in a 997 or 997S to compare ? I can wait another year especially if the 997 is a signifigant improvement.

i have test driven the 997 and the 996 back-to-back recently, and the 997 was a better driving experience... however, i dont think that is a fair comparison for purposes of what we are discussing here...

i think that the right comparison is the 997 vs. the 996 40th anniv with the extra hp (345). Seems like it would just scream and have all the right handling characteristics, etc

OMG, the most sane person on Rennlist has just spoken!!!!

In comparison I'm a bigotted 993-ophile... someday I'll get better or maybe even be cured !!!! Until then, I'm having a ton of fun !!! Hopefully everyone else is doing the same

I had that same exact though...

And you're right, it's no comparison and a no brainer to the boot.
