It is very hard to let a car sit for 60-90 days to let the paint cure.

Unless you live in New England. We are so d*** lucky.

My shop told they would not do the clear bar or recommend I do it until 60 days from the date of respray. They should me what happens when you put it on too early and later try to remove it and reapply it. The whole darm paint got stripped with the film.

My body shop said the same thing. It's a MUST to wait at least 40 days!

This is exactly why I'm going to have mine resprayed around Novemeber - December. Won't be too hard to let the car sit for a month or two around that time.
If I did it now, I'd be guaranteed to chip it up before I got the film.

Jonathan, on a separate note - how did you solve the problem with GT2 strut bar being wrong length? And what 3M film package did you decide to go with(Xpel/Invicashield/...)? I'm still trying to decide which clear bra to put on...
Also, glad that you found oval tips! They are wonderful!

Hmmm, maybe someone should tell Porsche about the 90-60 day wait before installing the 3M like film they put on all their 993s and now 997s.

As usual, Gert has been a real gentleman about the GT2 brace issue. He is working with his supplier to get the length issue resolved... In the meantime, he sent me a Cup brace instead... still would prefer the one-piece GT2 bar, so waiting to hear final word from Gert...

Alexander,

I think I've read here that Xpel has the best-fitting templates. I've had the Xpel stuff on my car for two years and have been very happy with it even though I didn't put it on myself. I just installed a new piece for the right splitter and found the fit to be accurate.

Thanks, Mark. From what I see the downsides of Xpel package is smaller hood piece(http://www.xpel.com/products/configu...&submodel=1531 vs. http://www.invinca-shield.com/asp/genkit.asp?kit=3618A) and price: for bumper, hood and mirrors Xpel comes at $369.90(Part #P2503 and #P2503G), Invicashield at $214(Kit #3618A Deluxe + mirror #7). Also, Xpel bumper kit contains one extra bottom piece - if it is for TurboS lip, which I don't have, then that is downside for me as well.
Xpel advantages seem to be
- one top Xpel bumper piece vs. two top Invicashield pieces;
- full headlamp Xpel pieces vs. only bottom Invicashield pieces.

I wonder how having one bumper piece complicates the installation. It would require much more accurate and precise stretching for single piece, but end result, if done properly, should be better.
