Boy, the brakes don't look right to me. I thought all "S" cars came with Big Reds?

4S came with big reds, the 2S came with black calipers...

the car looks really clean...of course, needs PPI and testdrive, etc.

Jaime thanks for posting the link to the car. My bad..... just forgot....... The seller has agreed to
a clean or relatively clean PPI prior to closure/finalizing the deal. The the car has been up for auction x3....each auction the car has only reached $36K. I assume the mileage is keeping the
price down. For what it's worth (Buffalo Springfield: name the members?) the car has a clean
CarFax, 2 owners with no accident hx. The seller says all records are intact and with the car. The car has a new clutch, belts, including timing belt and new timing chain and valve gasket covers. Does this pique and curiosity/concerns?

Thanks,

Hi Tony,

Still looking but I have done 3 PPI's on TT's with no luck. Each car has had
major problems and overpriced. They are getting tougher and tougher to
find with some hefty prices (IMHO) for the really fine examples. I need a Porsche fix and would be willing to get back into a 993CS or even a 993C2 if the price and setup is right.
The market it really changing with all the 996TT's entering the market.

Enjoy the Holiday,

Default Nice Example

if you can stay under $40,000.....sounds like the engine was out for a clutch and or oil leaks.......likely you could stay ahead dollar wise, if you needed to sell it in CA

I'd jump all over it if you could get it for anywhere near $40k... I've seen nicely appointed C2S's with only a little fewer miles listed well into the $50k's in Southern Cal. Have you asked the dealer what they're "asking", independent of the ebay auction? They may not be able to tell you until the auction ends... but maybe they'll give you the ballpark of where the reserve is.

Also, I would not trust Carfax just because it says "no accidents" or represents a certain number of owners. Review the maintenance records in detail, noting the owner's name on all receipts, and don't take anything for granted. As always, get a PPI done by a reputable shop and don't skimp on that either.

Seller has agreed to PPI. Any recommendations in Southern NJ area near West Berlin, very close to Philly? As I've done in the past: leak down, check all seals, ECU for running hours and over revs, general inspection of undercarriage and all body panels (i.e. paint depth gauge if possible), general inspection of interior esp. wear on pedals, seats and overall integrity of the components, etc. I agree
CarFax is just a start. I have requested copies of all records, should be interesting.

Have a good weekend,

I know someone who just bought a 98 C2S with approx 60k miles for under $40k.

Regarding the brakes, black caliper is not the only difference--the rotors are smaller diameter than the big reds. That said, I have a C2S and brakes work great in all street situations--even very spirited canyon runs! Plus, you have unsprung weight savings!!

"I know someone who just bought a 98 C2S with approx 60k miles for under $40k."

Deal of the century IMO, unless there were issues with it. '98 coupes at that mileage would sell for close to $50k in a heartbeat down here.

Default PPI

Try Tim Holt at Holt Motorsports....he is an ex-racer....well semi-retired, Kremer( sp?) Porsches....he is a great one to evaluate a 993 and he may know the car he is NW of Philly and closer to Wilmington DE. Check his website:

Berkley,

Thanks for the referral. Tim has quite an impressive line-up of 993's. I have sent an email.
Looking forward to his response.

Enjoy the Weekend,
