Default Sunroof Problem

I did a search but found no information on this specific problem that I am having.

When the sunroof is closing it pulls the air deflector down with a pair of plastic pieces that are spring-loaded. As the roof nears the closing point these plastic pieces are run over and the deflector is pulled down. The passenger side plastic piece has broken and now I have to hold the deflector down while closing the roof. Everything else works perfectly.

What are the plastic pieces called, and where can I get them, and how do I change them.

I could take pictures later today if my explanation is unclear.

Thanks for any help.

Just replaced mine last weekend, except mine broke on the driver side. Your dealer will know what they are called and should have them in stock. I got mine from an independent who had them.
It's an easy fix. There are 2 screws on each side that hold the "ramp" pivot in place. There are 4 or 5 screws that hold the entire deflector assembly in place. Take them all out and the whole assembly comes right out. It's pretty clear how it goes together.
I replaced the 2 ramps and the 2 deflector pivot clips for about 14$.

I can get you photos and/or part numbers if you need them. It's simple, "trust me".

There are a lot of pieces in the sunroof... just to make sure we're all talking about the same piece, a picture would be most helpful.

Yes Graham, that's the piece.

Thanks Del, I will stop by my Porsche dealer.

Does anyone know the part number for the actual air deflector piece? Would you believe mine has gotten badly rusted (very odd since theres no other rust on the car). and I need to replace it....

I replaced a SR cable and those same plastic pieces a couple of years ago. The cable is a bit tedious, but the plastic pieces you referred to are cheap and easy to install. Be cautious about over-tightening any screw that is mated to the roof panel... the metal is soft. Good luck with your fix.

I replaced my very rusted deflector about 2 yrs ago, looked at it the other day and noticed a new rust spot developing once again.

What is it with this part?

911-564-127-00 hinge(aka "ramp")
It's not clear from the diagram what else do you need to replace when changing this hinge. Just in case, pivoting clip at windshield side of the hinge is 911-564-123-00.

Thank you Alexander. Just called the local P-Dealer and the parts will arrive in 3-4 days and they will ship them directly to me. I got 2 sets of each part, and the total is less than $15. Got to be the cheapest part on the 993.

Thanks all for the info and help.
