Remember me ?? It's been a long time since I have posted or visited the board. Been busy finishing up with my Masters. I graduate in two weeks.
So now that I actually have some time to enjoy the finer things, it's time to take my pcar in for a well needed spa day.
I have noticed that on hard shifts and on aggressive downshifts on the highway, the RPM's will usually jump about 1K-1500K before the car grabs. I was assuming I was in need of a new clutch (at 41K miles??) but my phone conseltation resulted in the opinion that something might be wrong with the slave.
You all know I'm not a wrench turner so I thought I would get your opinions. For those of you on the left coast, I'm having Galen Bieker do the work.
We are also thinking of upgrading to the RS LWF. If the clutch does need replacement, probably going to throw in a 993 TT clutch (any thoughts?)
and, it was also suggested since I need new rotors and pads, replace with a big red kit.. The price difference between the big red kit and just rotors and pads is not the great (as is my understanding)
Sounds like you need a new clutch too me. You should upgrade to the LWF and RS clutch.
As far as the brakes go, they say big reds are overkill for a street car.......but heh, it's only money!
Brumo's Porsche (www.brumosporsche.com) has Big Reds (discs and calipers) for $2,500, which is about as cheap as I've ever seen them. That said, I track my car a lot and can truly say the stock brakes are all I need.
Welcome back. I remember when you moved out West. I loved California when I lived there, but that was in the Bay Area. What is your Masters in?
And, I have heard, if you are going in there anyway, go for the LWF and RS clutch. I'm waiting for mine to fail, but don't expect it soon.
Chuck.. I will be getting my MFA.. Masters in Directing (film and television)
from the American Film Institute (AFI) ...
-- I hope I don't have to replace the clutch.. my understanding is a slave repair is much less costly. If I do however go with the RS LWF and Clutch, anyone know how much this will cost.
And what is the cost of the OEM 993 911 (non RS) I'd love to know the price difference.
Also, if anyone knows the price of the Turbo clutch??
And, which is the better clutch, the RS or the turbo??
With the exchange rate, that's $1825 US...Ouch! Paragon products and Devek sell the same product. I would check them out for pricing. I think it takes a full day to install.
I bought my parts from ViperBob at Devek, and will be doing the install myself (with the help of pguy, and a few other Rennlisters) this Friday.
