Hi. I've just purchased my first Porsche. A '96 993 C2.

The central '!' warning light does not come on with the ignition. Yes i've checked the bulb - it's fine. I've also re-seated the connectors on the guage. All the other warning lights are coming on/going off correctly - apart from airbag - no bulb in that one ;-)

Now, if i pull the connector off the '!' switch on the centre console - BINGO -it lights up!
I've had the switch apart and it doesn't seem as if anything could be wrong with it - these things are well made!

Does anyone have any ideas? Anything else I can check?

 

Have any local 993 friends ? Perhaps borrow a switch and see if problem changes.
