I have been browsing for a while and I am amazed at how much information is avaliable here. Thank you all.
My top has developed a small nick in it and I haven't found any information on it. My 95 Cabrio's top has a small nick (about 3/8 of an inch) in one of the places that folds on the passenger side. Is there some procedure I should take to keep it from separating or getting worse. Other than this flaw the top is perfect condition. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advanced
This is a design flaw w/ 1994 and 1995 993 cabs. You should stich or patch it while it is still small. It's difficult to fix the elastic (which would otherwise pull the fabric away) w/o removing the top so the only other thing you can do is when opening the top stop halfway, get out of the car and manually clear the fabric away from the pins. There are a ton of threads posted on this issue.
Sorry to hear about this. Once a tear starts ... well, it's all downhill from there even if the rest of the top looks great. As David mentioned above, it MIGHT be possible to patch it, hopefull from the inside. Talk to an upholstery shop, they initially thought they could do it for mine but it didn't work out.
