Default Rennlist to the rescue - THANK YOU!

It's my wife's birthday today and we are going out to dinner in an hour. She said can we take the 993 and of course I said what else would we take?

Went to the garage to get the car out and the impossible happened. The engine cranked and cranked and cranked and nothing!!! My 993 starts first time everytime and has done for the nearly 4 years I have owned it. Quick excursion through my brain of obvious Rennlist fixes and DME relay wins. Remove the spare from the glovebox purchased 3 years ago on the advice of this board. Swapped it for the old one, (if your not familiar with this main fuse box under front decklid furthest relay to the left) took all of one minute. Turned the key and everything back to normal

Serious point if you have not got a spare in your glovebox get one NOW part number 993.615.227.00 I will be getting another tomorrow. There was no warning - yesterday perfect, 20 minutes ago a non-working car, but fixed in one minute if you have the part.

Thanks for all the great advice this board has given me.

Never leave home without it...(ok, maybe add Immobilizer battery to the list for the immobilizer-challenged cars)..

There are many Rennlist threads describing the same DME issue and the importance of having a spare. First thing I purchased as well.. Rennlist ist sehr gut !!

I bought a spare also. Its a better unit, so I installed the new one, and have the old one resting inside the fusebox, if I ever need it, it's right there. So far, so good.

I'll bite - what's an Immobilizer battery? I just searched this fine forum for that and came up with nada (other than your post). Or is that found right next to the flux capacitors?

I think what they mean is the battery for your alarm key fob. If yours dies, you can get in the car but not easy to disable immobilizer.

I also carry spare belts and a belt tool (Special Porsche 12 point allen tool part#999 571 052 02 per Robin's site), just in case.

You know how GM has the onstar button in their cars? How about a Rennlist button to install in ours
