Tried a search here but did not find...Is Porsche making yachts?
Had a friend email me that this is a new line of Porsche Yachts. He claims to have seen an ad in a yachting magazine that states if you buy one you get a 911 with it!! Looks like a fluke to me...

I've seen pictures of that 28 before.
First off, I certainly wouldn't call it a yacht.
Secondly, for a half million, there are literally 100's of other boats I'd buy before that - free 911 or not. I could pick up a nice used Outerlimits for a half mil that would put that little p-boat to shame.

I'm confused. What about that website leads you to think that they might be at all affiliated with Porsche? Is there some fine print on the ad that I can't read?
At any rate, it would be a) completely stupid of PAG, and b) huge news, if PAG decided to get into the boating business. Not gonna happen.

That appears to be a 928 motor that has been modified for marine use. I think there have been a few aftermarket boat makers dong this for a few years. I think it might be akin to the Porsche aircraft engines, not done directly by Porsche.

Porsche Design does a lot of interesting projects. However, the boats are news to me. The pics look like they are of models, and ones on the water appear to have been computer generated. Anyone have more info?

The 12 year old from down the street always likes to come up and watch me wax my car... Or do any other type of work on it. He came running up the street several weeks ago with a magazine that had the Porsche Yachts displayed in it. Pretty neat looking... But I don't think that Porsche builds them... I think they help design the boat and then sell them the licensing to put the Porsche name on it.

They were putting 928 motors in an offshore style boat back in the early 90s. It's in one of my powerboat books. I'll look it up. I'm a Donzi guy myself & it's hard to beat Chevy BB torque in a speedboat application. Unless you have the deep pockets for big diesels.
