Noisy Lifter.... Need Help
I have read the previous posts and I will wish that my mechanic had read them as well, before he changed my lifters.
It all started with a loud clanky noise that was identified by the mechanic as noisy lifter.
We discussed it and I decided that since one or more was gone and since we were going to open her up on both sides, that we might as well do all lifters.
As I was expecting the car to be ready I called and was informed that all had not gone well, and that the lifters now were noisier than before.
He was going to let the car cool off and try again, no luck
I had been given a brief explanation how the hydraulic lifters operated and the first thing that came to my mind was what apparentlly is the solution, soaking the lifters.
My question is this;
1- Can any damage be done by not soaking the lifter
2- Can these lifters be kept now that they were operated without oil
3- Could other damage be there to show in the future
4- What could have caused the original noisy lifter
5- What amount of time is fair, to change all lifters and one rocker arm.
Thanks in Advance
