Question EcoTeck PowerBoost

I have seen this product and have had trouble with my car that the petrol additives can't seem to fix, pinking and run on as well as rubbishy performance, etc. Have any of you used it, do you think it would be worth a go?

no affiliation, etc.

I haven't used this product however I've had excellent results with Swepco products, especially the fuel additive. (I believe "Swepco 502" is the fuel additive.) I used this product frequently in my SC and was very impressed with the results.

Hi Gabi:

We just had one here recently with a situation similar to yours.

Turns out that the pistons were VERY heavily carboned up ; truly a big mess (< 65K miles) and the solution was to remove the top end and clean the heads and pistons. Small glowing bits of carbon were the culprit causing preignition and thus detonation.

An experienced eye with a Borescope inserted into a plug hole will show this.

How much is a top end job like this likely to cost?

This job is mostly labor so you need to check around and see what an experienced and reputable shop charges for this.

You should do a valve job at the same time to replace the factory guides that are at the root of the problem.
