First DIY - sort of
Sooo, a quick search of Rennlist turned-up information about the idle stabilizer valve (ISV) and a link to Robin's site with a DIY.
It is amazing how dirty it was, and the little thing inside (I don't want to get technical here) was not turning at all. After 1/2 can of brake fluid, all was good. It is a very easy fix, and after supervising my son through the process, I had a clean ISV.
The idle is now stable and very smooth.
Being totally mechanically challenged, this same problem with my other car would have meant a trip to the mechanic and probably a $75 charge. With Rennlist behind me, I figured out what the problem was, bravely took screw driver to car, and tackled this 15 minute job on my own. To be totally honest, I did the research and provided project oversight, and my son did the actual manual labor.
What self satisfaction My first repair ever, on any car. This alone pays for about 4 years of Rennlist membership.
Rennlist works!

Take care, and "pay it forward."
Edward
