What is the mostly likely culprit when it becomes a little too easy to defeat the detent towards reverse gear when looking for 1st or 2nd?
Appreciate any thoughts on this.

 

I used to find it way too easy to find reverse instead of first, too. I hated the rubbery shifting of the stock 993 setup. After I installed the RS short shifter, things improved. With the addition of the RS motor mounts, shifting got even better.

Don't ask me how or what it does to improve the shifting feel, but it does. Shifts are much more defined with little of the vague feeling of before. For me, I've found what I was looking for and am now quite satisfied with how my car shifts.
