Do you have a front License Plate?

No plate, as my avatar shows. I've gotten two tickets for other infractions with no mention of the missing plate from Officer Friendly. I have been told by some law enforcement types that lack of a front plate is a good reason to pull you over if there is _any_ suspicion of DUI. Also, with the rise in red light cameras a number of jurisdictions are paying more attention to this as these systems require a shot of the front plate.

No front plate on mine or the BMW. Never been hassled but I do put it in the front window when I park because I have heard that this is when you would most likely get a ticket from an officer.

I keep my front plate on the rear flooeboard with a broken mount - "I've got one on order, Officer but those German parts take so muck longer to get here..."

I had to re-install mine as Santiago has gone to an electronic toll system that needs to get a pic of your front plate to verify the car's identity. What I did was bend the plate to the same width as German plates (Chilean plates are the same as US in dimensions). It looks a lot better, and allows me to comply. I would prefer no plate at all, but I have no option.

Sorry,
Re-reading the above I realize I am not being specific. I bent the lower third of the plate and left only the number visible. The bending was done with a vise and then hammered with a rubber mallet. Teh crease is parallel to the lower edge and the portion is folded out of sight.

No front plate for me and so far it's cost me $140 to keep it that way. I had a really unpleasant conversation with a cop about it... one of my clients, a public utility, had called me on a fairly urgent matter at 1 AM and I was pulled over a quarter-mile from the front door. Wasn't speeding, wasn't swerving... just a pull for having a 911 with no front tag. When we were finished, I said to the cop,
"Call your family in an hour. If your lights are still on and your heat is still on (this was in December) you'll know I don't do MY job the chicken**** way you do YOURS."

I just put the front plate on my car with the lowering bracket. I have read here that California is getting more agressive in enforcing the law and figure that I do not need to give anyone a reason to pull me over.

Yep, got one, (see avatar - uses the lowering kit.)
Figure living in CA with a bright red covertible speed machine, I don't need any more "reasons" from Officer Bobby to ask to see my licence and registration.
Probably the same cost as a couple of tickets anyway... and yes, I've heard police are "cracking down"....

I don't have the front plate on any of my cars and have never had any issues. Has never been a problem and is worth the risk. I can't believe the number of cars you see without front or rear plates.
