Default FS: 1996 Carrera 4

New job and move necessitate sale of 1996 Carrera 4.

Roughly 85k miles now. Black with tan interior, chrome ovals, hifi, stainless "Carrera 4" sills, tweaked exhaust and box, M030, Sport Classic IIs on near-new SO3s, clear corners, recent $7,000+ job to solve the SAI CEL and tidy up the engine, full major service.

One pic

more on the way tomorrow. A quick third party opinion would be Ivan at PCA Potomac sponsor IMA Motorsport in Fairfax, Va, who cared for the car -- including the recent massive service.

Asking 35,000 -- it is running better than when I bought. I am in Fairfield County, CT and NYC in a very busy new gig so if all one wants to do is kick tires, please: let's not.

Also have a set of lightly rashed 17" cups for sale. Prefer local pickup near my home in DC for those. Thanks.

Pete-Good luck on getting your price. My car is set up very similiar to yours (exc. mine being a cab), and would like to see the prices stay up.

Welcome to the Big Apple!

Don't feel like driving your baby on pothole ridden stop and go streets?

Pete--sorry to hear the porker has to go...after just spending that lump on the engine, anyone should be happy to drive it regardless of mileage....sounds like a fair price to me considering $7500 in top end rebuild, SAI work just completed.

Great point! I feel this is a good deal considering all of the work on the car, plus the mods. One could try and save some money by purchasing a $30K eBay car, usually a bone stock one at that. BUT, all it takes is a few repairs, and -bang-, you in it $40 large.. FWIW

I'd say $33k is a more than fair price based on the pics, description, and recent repairs. I can tell anyone who's considering Pete's that my car, between the PPI due-bill items paid for by the dealer (new set rear tires, steering rack replacement, rim road rash repair, and hood/deck-lid struts) and the subsequent top end that I'm sharing with him, repairs/fixes will be approaching $10k over the purchase price.

In general, I echo Cole and Chris's sentiments. Good luck...

Sounds fair to me too, since the reason prices supposedly get pushed down on cars with that mileage is the risk of an expensive SAI fix.

EBay is hitting new lows. I wonder if there are any non-liars who want to make an actual offer. Christ the buyer community is full of lowlifes. Sure, the seller community is, too...just my experience this past month with asinine fake buyers/tire kickers/Accord-driving dreamers/great offers from a widow in Nigeria.

Pete--you could always sell it on consignment with one of the Porsche independent dealers, or possibly even your local dealership--I know that around Atlanta, 993s don't sit for longer than a week, two tops [when at a Porsche Authorized dealer that is]...Maybe it's because people walk in peeking at a $90K 997 that they can't afford, then see the $45K 993 that they can afford so they snap it up!

Default Price lowered to 32,000

If I encounter another flake I'm starting a cereal company.

I now have 88k miles and have lowered the price to 32000. IMA in Fairfax,VA performed a PPI last week if anyone would like to check it out.

I am back in NYC with the car.

Thanks,
Colin
